The magazine ad was the first project of the term in my Graphics I class. We could not use a computer for this project, only a magazine coloring utensils and paper. The objective was to create an ad that was appealing to the eye as well as using line and color to enhance the project. The lines and boldness of the words and pictures show emphasis. Throughout this project I learned a lot about the elements of design and principles of art.
Project #2 Test Run - Example Yard Sale Flyer
Project #2A - Template Ad
The objective of this project was to create a window flyer ad off of a template from Microsoft Publisher. This one was in color and we had to make sure we used the 1/3 ratio for the more important text.
Project #2B - Colored Haunted Theme Ad
The objective of this project was to create a window flyer ad with a haunted theme off of a blank page from Microsoft Publisher. This one was in color and we had to make sure we used the 1/3 ratio for the more important text.
Project #2C - Black and White Haunted Theme Ad
The objective of this project was to create a window flyer ad with a haunted theme off of a blank page from Microsoft Publisher. This one was in black and white, and we had to make sure we used the 1/3 ratio for the more important text.
Project #3 - Tri-Fold Brochure
In this brochure project, we were asked to create a brochure for a business that we are the owner and operators for. We started by photo shopping a self portrait. This portrait went in the bio. Then we used MS Publisher and clip art to create the brochure without a template. I also used Word Art and changed the basis format of the word art. After completing this project I learned how to use Photoshop and how to create an interesting brochure. My use of pictures and text placement makes the brochure easy to read and also causes the reader to want to come here.
Project #4 - Greeting Card
In this Greeting Card project, we used Microsoft Publisher Templates to create a greeting card for any occassion to a famous person. I sent mine to Johnny Depp. We got a picture of the person online and photoshopped it and then put it on a card. First I cropped the photo, then I painted the background blue. I also used the filter tool that made the image look cartoony. After that I brightened the image, then increased the contrast. Next, I put the image on a greeting card that read: "Happy Birthday, Jeffrey!" I addressed the card from Johnny Depp. From completing this project I learned how to use more/new techniques on Photoshop.
Project #4 - Thayer Street Brochure for Cheap Eats
For this project we had to create a brochure for a business on Thayer Street. This is where we went on a field trip to during the first term. We were assigned a category for every group of four students. My group's category was "cheap eats." After were were assigned our category, we went to Thayer Street and walked around, taking pictures of businesses considered "cheap eats." We found Baja's, Johnny Rockets, Mike's Calzones, Antonio's, and Sushi Express. Along with the pictures, we had to find out store hours and addresses of each cheap eat. For my brochure the three cheap eats I chose were Baja's, Johnny Rockets, and Mike's. The cover of my brochure has a title that I edited in Photoshop. I first made the title in Word Art then I saved it in Photoshop and made the text have an effect and I added effects onto the words. Each photo on my brochure also was edited in Photoshop.
